 Biography

Beth Pearson's family tree weighs heavily with generations of artisans and tradespeople.  She was raised in rural Marshfield, Vermont and received a bachelor's degree in painting and writing in 1991 from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.  After College she returned to the Burlington, Vermont area.  She continued to paint privately, honing her style, and simultaneously she worked as a floral designer for the next eight years.

Beth's premier solo painting exhibit was at the Firehouse Gallery in Burlington in 1999.  The response was immediate and the community enthusiasm for her images encouraged her to place more focus on painting.  Her work became recognized for its rich surfaces and poetic compositions with titles that empowered even timid viewers to interpret them.  Since then it is those interpretations that have solidified her reputation for providing a gateway to a wider audience to appreciate abstraction.  The humor and personality of her painting gained local popularity and other exhibits followed in Vermont and the greater New England area.

Beth continues to live and paint in the Burlington area.  She has been an active member of Burlington City Arts and Print Studio 250 and has participated in many workshops and print projects in local and greater Vermont.  Her recognizable style and regular exhibits have promoted her as a staple contemporary artist in the area.
